Why is Mindset so important?

Why is mindset so important in creating the future we want for all life?

Working from our intepretation, sustainability is about focusing on the experiences and outcomes we want to create, for future generations of life, rather than just doing 'stuff' to, reduce our use of fossil fuels, or reduce CO2 emissions, or reduce our use of water, or re-cycling as examples, to protect.... You've heard it all, and all said and done, most of what we currently do is a band aid, and in a lot of cases, simply shifts the problem somewhere else for someone other than ourselves to deal with. To create real shifts in how we are 'acting' we need to start by manifesting a mindset that enables us to see, perceive, think and act differently.

Shifting Mindset

Our model resets the perspectives of professional disciplines, establishing a foundation built on the concept of a broader organizational community. Shifting Mindsets helps people see beyond the parts to the whole sum of the organization and its potential.

Working in parallel, and as we gain understanding and build the organizational assessment and analysis, we engage with the management team and key members of the organization at a deeper level to build consensus around corporate culture and ‘language’. We shape or build on the corporate mindset to shift thinking from an ostensibly linear view that focuses on accumulation to one that sees connections and flows over time that result in outcomes that might not have been predicted and acknowledged previously, through our Mindful Action Program™ (‘MAP’), which is integral to Manzimvulas' Integrated Sustainability Approach ('ISA').

As the team drills down into each area to develop a go-to market program that will incorporate a near-, medium-, and long-term vision and outcomes for the organization, we help the team to engage a broader set of stakeholders, which they otherwise may not have been willing to approach or even consider in the past to gain a deeper understanding of the organization and the experience it wishes to create from the use or application of its product or service, both internally and externally.

Creating Action-based and Focused Environments

From a Sustainability perspective, using these reframing and rethinking efforts, we add information and knowledge that helps to create new design guides and thinking that empower and enable more robust and effective sustainable activity, essentially combining principles and more strategic and action-focused information and direction.

Manzimvula’s Integrative Strategy Approach enables organizations and the people within the broader organizational community, to look at the company through a lens that brings resource utilization, access and availability into focus over a longer term. This enables the decision-making teams within the organization to understand the context and affect of their decisions more clearly, and the effects of those decisions across the orhanizational community, enabling them to create strategies that are more fluid and congruent with the organizations purpose and its value to society and the community within which it participates to create value in that environment and the environment as a whole.

As part of the program, we work alongside the organizational teams to develop training and implementation programs that are delivered, monitored, assessed and adjusted over time to support the outcomes the organizational teams have agreed meet the needs of its organizational community both now and in the future. This includes the narrative they will use to communicate in a transparent and authentic manner to support the organization and its leadership in becoming a leader in their market space.

By creating an environment where the individual and the teams have the right mindset, the focus becomes the successful outcome of the project or initiative rather than ownership of a specific path to achieve a stated objective. In other words the path to success evolves as the individuals and teams engage.

In our Integrative Strategic Approach model, innovation and creativity are embraced to develop highly effective implementations with buy-in and support from all members of the team, and the teams themselves. Skills and qualifications become second nature in the collaborative process rather than defining a hierarchy of decision-making. Decisions flow through the process because the individuals are bought into the success of the whole rather than the success of individuals or individual disciplines.

The integrative model fosters collaboration across organizational teams and departments and results in support and mentoring that crosses traditional organizational departmental lines. Historically, individual input and guidance may have been perceived as criticism or undermining of the process. In organizational communities where mindset is intentionally developed up front, input and guidance is seen as support and collaboration.
